On June 11, 2025, Zanzibar Startup
Association participated in the Mawimbi Summit 2025 at Hotel Slipway, hosted by INCO under the Mawimbi Program. The summit gathered entrepreneurs, business support organizations from Tanga, SmartLab, and key stakeholders from Dar es Salaam to discuss the importance of empowering rural entrepreneurship in Tanzania.
Zanzibar Startup Association contributed as a panelist, sharing insights on decentralizing entrepreneurship support and advocating for stronger inclusion of regions like Zanzibar and Tanga. The discussion highlighted how urban-focused support systems limit innovation potential in rural areas and stressed the need for localized hubs, mentorship, and resource equity.
This summit reaffirmed our commitment to building a more inclusive national startup ecosystem. We are proud to collaborate with partners across regions to ensure all innovators—regardless of location—have access to the tools, networks, and opportunities they need to thrive.
